Meal plan for February 24th – March 2nd
So, I’m pretty wiped out from this weekend, and don’t have the usual energy to put in to fart jokes, silly photos, etc. Forgive me please.
In lieu of a photo for this week, here is a video of Jack’s first steps. Yes, I am seriously putting an almost four-year-old video up because I’m too tired to upload photos from my camera.
After all that, Jack and I met up with a coworker and her son, and had lunch and then hit up a children’s museum. There are moms who love being around a lot of energetic kids.
Kids wipe me the freak out you guys. Phew! After coming home, I vacuumed and mopped the house, cleaned all the bathrooms, and then made MORE food for the week. Yeesh, my dogs are barking, and my new library book (kindle version) is calling my name. I’m only halfway through this book, but I’m so in love with it that I can’t even stand it. Nancy Pearl, the former head of the Seattle library, is on our local NPR station every month to recommend books. I copiously write down what she writes, and she has never steered me wrong. This latest book was a recommendation, and when it finally came in at the library for me, the librarian went on and on how much she loved it. I can see why it’s fabulous.
Also, is there anything more douche baggey than using “copious” and “listening to NPR” in the same sentence? Pfft! I feel like I should be wearing pearls and drinking a dirty martini. Instead, I’m wearing Target yoga pants (they come in talls people. All the huge freaks in the house say yay!), and drinking water from a mason jar. Charmed I’m sure.
Speaking of “you guys”, have you taken the New York Times Linguistics quiz yet? I heard about this on NPR too.
The quiz takes about 10 minutes and is reported to deduct where you have lived based on certain word selections you choose. It nailed me within 35 miles of my hometown; nuts!
Alright, I have laundry to fold, a book to start reading, and a foot rub to try to coerce from a spouse. Let’s get to the brass tax, and talk meal plan.
Reminder, I only plan dinners. My breakfast of choice has changed, and I’m now obsessed with homemade Greek yogurt with tons of cut up fresh fruit (or fruit I froze in the summer), and a homemade granola bar crumbled on top. It’s delicious and keeps me completely full and satisfied until lunch. Lunches are always leftovers. We rarely eat dessert during the week, and our dinner drink of choice is water kefir soda.
Monday:: Homemade Reubens, spicy chipotle sweet potato fries (why you want the recipe? It shall be yours. This week), and salad.
Tuesday:: Taking Jack and our neighbor boy to see the Lego Movie after I get off work. They’re having PB&Js, cheese, apples, and $2 GMO movie theater popcorn topped with “butter substitute”. Delicious!
Wednesday:: Tomato soup canned from last year’s garden, quesadillas, and salad.
Thursday:: My in-laws are feeding us. Hurray!
Friday:: Popcorn dinner. Yes, seriously we eat popcorn for dinner. It’s popcorn, leftovers, cheese slices, fruit, and cut up veggies. Everyone gets as much as they want, and no one leaves hungry. I adore Fridays because it is the easiest night of the week for making everyone happy!
Saturday:: Something crockpot related. Any ideas?
Sunday:: Family dinner at my parent’s. They provide the main dish, and we all provide the sides and dessert. Fun day!
I have no flipping clue how much I spent on groceries this weekend, and I’m literally too tired to get my ass up, walk 10 feet to my receipts, and add that up for you. So, yeah. You’re welcome.
