Meal plan for July 2nd-8th
Good morning, and Happy Fourth of July weekend! If you’re the kind of person who buys their fireworks early, and shoots them off for the next week as soon as the sun goes down, I hate you. A lot. The sun doesn’t go down in the Pacific Northwest during the summer until 9:15 ish, and I have to get up at 4:45 am, so I get to listen to your Piccolo Petes, and curse you until midnight.
Other than that, we’re cool.
Here is our meal plan for the week.
Monday:: Mostly Meatless burgers (made these a few weeks ago and froze the leftovers), coleslaw, grilled zukes, and fruit.
Tuesday:: Baked potato bar, leftover coleslaw, and fruit.
Wednesday:: BBQ at the in-laws for the 4th. Eating starts at noonish, and I promise we won’t be hungry for dinner.
Thursday:: Meatball subs, grilled zukes, and (shocker) fruit.
Friday:: Playdate with two of Jack’s friends.
Saturday:: Popcorn, fruit, cheese, and veggies on the couch while watching a library movie.
Sunday:: Dinner at my parent’s.
This week I spent $29.26 at the grocery store, $14.75 at the farmer’s market, $39.78 at Trader Joes (stock up!), $12 for 3 dozen eggs, and $3.50 for local raw milk, for a total of $99.29.
You’d think my bill would be much higher considering we’ve been feeding an extra mouth this past week. Boba Fett has been sleeping over at Jack’s insistence.
Even ruthless bounty hunters like the Twilight Turtle. It’s dark in space yo! |
Thank God for the twilight turtle! We think those Fruitful O’s are gross though… have you tried them yet? If you’re going for gf cereal, pretty much all Chex are delicious and gf (B prefers Honey chex) or Udi’s gf granola are pretty delicious. Feel free to ignore my cereal judging/commenting. And P.S. I spent $141 on a single bag of groceries at Whole Foods this week… we NEED TJos…!
I think they’re gross too. I bought them on a whim about a month ago, and Jack fell in love with them as a snack on the couch while watching a little TV on the weekends. I bought the TJ’s ones on Saturday and J bone said “these are disgusting”. Sigh.
One is going in soon near you, right?! Curse you Whole Foods!
I hate asshats that set fire works off for weeks. It started last weekend here and they haven’t stopped. It is so nice when I have a dog that is terrified of them and barks and whines when the idiots set them off. 🙂
Poor doggie, he must be so stressed out this time of year! Our family dog just hit under the bed and shook.
We have a Trader Joe’s that just opened near us…..well in Fort Worth (45 min away!) but I haven’t been yet!
Sounds like a good meal plan!
We had them all over in LA, but when we moved back to WA, it was a haul (still is) to get to one. It’s worth it though for occasional stock ups on supplies! Their produce is well priced, but it’s never very good and I hate that they put everything in plastic. No thanks!
They’re fantastic for specialty items, and chocolate. ;-D If you go, hunt down their “pound plus” chocolate bars because they’re so versatile for baking/cooking!
