Easy Blackberry Compote (4 Ingredients)
This easy homemade blackberry compote is a delicious sauce or topping for ice cream, waffles/pancakes, or enjoy it with a cheeseboard. This tasty homemade condiment is so simple to make with just four ingredients.

Ingredients

cups
blackberries

tbsp
white sugar
1/4

water
{+ more as needed}

lemon juice
2
tsp
lemon zest

tsp
vanilla extract
Instructions
Rinse blackberries.
4 cups blackberries
In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, add all ingredients. Stir to combine.
3 tbsp white sugar,
1/4 cup water,
1 tsp lemon juice,
1 tsp vanilla extract,
2 tsp lemon zest
Bring mixture to a boil over medium-high for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Reduce temperature to medium-low and allow the mixture to simmer until softened (~20-25 minutes), stirring occasionally so it doesn't burn.
Add additional water 1 tbsp at a time if needed to prevent mixture from burning.
Cool and serve.
Notes
If, during the simmering time, the mixture seems a little dry, add 1 tablespoon of water at a time to keep your blackberries compote from burning.
