How to Cut a Watermelon
The first watermelon of the season is always an exciting event. There is the tingle of anticipation of biting into a chunk of summer. But what is the worst part of buying a whole watermelon? Cutting it of course. Annoying. Did you know that “how to cut a watermelon” spikes on Google Trends on July 3rd most years? Well, friends, I am here to tell you that you can break down an entire watermelon in under three minutes. Truth.
This video will show you how my chef’s knife and I were a total boss when taking on this watermelon. Before editing, the video was 2:47. And that included 15 seconds when I just stopped doing anything because Troy said “oh no, my feet are in the shot” as he stood on our kitchen chair. And then I flipped out and was like “what is even the point of continuing”. He’s got some big ole’ feet (size 14/15), and no one wants to see that. Thankfully, they weren’t actually in the shot, and I persisted post hissy fit. And yes, I’m five.
Our chickens got all the rinds from producing this video, and they thank you very much for reading this post. If you have any extra bits of watermelon of your own, I highly recommend making watermelon, lime, and mint ice cubes to flavor your water. They’re delicious and can help you drink more water during the hot summer days.
So if you have been tasked to bring the watermelon to a Fourth of July BBQ this coming week, don’t despair because now you know how to cut a watermelon like a pro. You can take a watermelon from roly and poly to ready to serve in less time than it takes Troy to put socks on his giant skis.
