How to Make Chicken Fajitas in the Air Fryer
I’ll walk you through it with some tips and tricks and photos, and you’ll find a printable recipe card at the bottom of the post with exact measurements and cooking times.
Start by slicing the chicken against the grain and toss with fajitas seasoning and 2 tsp of olive oil.
Brush some olive oil in your air fryer basket and add the chicken. Cook at 400˚F for 5 minutes.
While the chicken is cooking, toss the onions and peppers with a bit more olive oil. Add the veggies to the chicken, stir the whole mixture up, and cook for an additional 8 minutes or until the chicken reaches 165˚F.
Top with Chipotle Southwest Sauce, sour cream, plain homemade Greek yogurt, salsa, or Avocado Yogurt Dip.
Pro Tips/Recipe Notes
- If using store-bought fajitas mix, the 1 oz size envelope will make one batch of these fajitas.
- Try to cut the chicken to a uniform size to get even cooking results.
- If you want to prep the onions and peppers to marinate with the chicken, cut them slightly larger than normal to prevent burning during the longer cooking time.
- All air fryers will cook differently. The only way to guarantee your chicken is cooked is to use a meat thermometer. Chicken is safe to eat when the internal temp is 165˚F degrees.

Timing was perfect on these bad boys! Easy to make and yummy! Thanks for working so hard to get this timing worked out to perfection!!!
So glad you enjoyed it, my friend!!
What type of tortillas are you using to be Whole30 compliant?
Sadly, there are no tortillas that are Whole30 approved. Within the body of the post, it recommends what to serve with the fajitas to make them a compliant complete meal (I recommend a big salad or roasted veggies).
These fajitas are fantastic! I was a little skeptical that the chicken would come out dry but it didn’t! The flavor was fantastic and everything cooked perfectly! This is going in rotation at my house!
You mention parchment paper in list of equipment but not.mentioned in recipe?
It’s optional. 🙂 Makes for quick clean up, but you can also just brush the basket with olive oil.
