Meal Prep Tip

Caramelized onions will last a few days in the fridge, so feel free to meal prep these on the weekend and use them in recipes during the week.

Having them prepped and ready to go means you can make a caramelized French onion pizza or French onion pork chops in a flash.

If you can’t use them all up in time, freeze them in 1/2-1 cup portions for later.

Pro Tips/Recipe Notes

  • If you cut the onions too thinly, they’ll cook down faster, but will become mush.
  • If you’re like me and onions make you cry your face off, putting them in the fridge for 40-60 minutes before cutting them will greatly reduce the tears.
  • The baking soda can add a bitter aftertaste if you use too much. I don’t recommend exceeding 1/4 tsp.
