HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COOK FROZEN Waffle FRIES IN AN AIR FRYER?

Each air fryer will be slightly different with cook time, but on average it only takes about 13 minutes to get crispy fries at 400˚F/200˚C.

If you like your fries extra crispy, you can cook them longer, but check for any potential burning by minute 10.

How to make air fryer waffle fries

*I’ll walk you through it here with some photos and tips, and you’ll also find a printable recipe card at the bottom of the post with exact measurements, etc. You can also click “jump to recipe” to skip down.

Place the frozen waffle fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Some overlap is ok, but it is better to cook multiple batches than to overcrowd the basket.

Cook for 10 minutes at 400˚F/200˚C. Shake the basket, and then cook for another 4-6 minutes depending on how crispy you like your waffle fries.

Optional: season with salt and pepper, or even homemade seafood seasoning for seasoned waffle fries.

How to Store and Reheat

Storing Leftovers: Allow the fries to fully cool before storing them in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.

If you enclose them in a container before they have cooled, it will produce condensation and lead to soggy fries.

Reheating Leftovers: You can reheat leftover waffle fries in the air fryer at 350˚F for 2-3 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you thaw frozen waffle fries before cooking them?

No, you will cook the fries when they are completely frozen. They’ll go directly from the freezer to the air fryer.

Do I need to add oil when cooking waffle fries in the air fryer?

Nope! Frozen fries already come with oil on them, so there is no need to add more before cooking.

You may wish to brush the air fryer basket with oil, use air fryer parchment, or air fryer silicone mats to prevent the fries from sticking. That being said, I have never had an issue with waffle fries sticking to the air fryer basket.

PRO TIPS/RECIPE NOTES

  • There is no need to preheat the air fryer.
  • If you have a smaller air fryer, you may need to cook your fries in batches. It’s still faster than the oven!
  • Cook from frozen – do not thaw the fries before baking.
  • Do shake the fries after about 10 minutes to avoid burn spots.
  • You do not need to spray any oil on the fries; they will cook perfectly without it.
  • Throw in a few whole garlic cloves to cook with the fries for a delicious take on this Air Fryer Roasted Garlic. Top with some shredded Parm for a homemade version of stadium waffle fries.
