Trader Joe’s finally added compliant bacon, but if you’re unable to find it at your store, check out this list of Whole30 Bacon Brands.

A few quick notes about this Trader Joe’s shopping list:

  • Things are subject to change depending on the whims of Trader Joe’s and the availability of inventory.
  • Some of the items may be seasonal.
  • Some items may be regional or not available at all locations.
  • Always check the labels! Recipes and ingredients can change without notice.

A Few Abbreviations:

Due to space I couldn’t write everything out word for word and relied on some abbreviations to keep this under 15 pages! There is a key on each page for three of the main terms.

  • V = vegetarian
  • Veg = vegan
  • Un.Su = unsulfured
  • Un.Sw = unsweetened
  • G.Fed = grassfed
  • Org. = organic
  • BL = boneless
  • SK = skinless

Whole30 Beginner Resources

If this is your first time doing a Whole30 round, it’s great to read up on what is and is not allowed. The Whole30 website is a great first step. And their printable list of banned and allowed additives is very useful.

From there, the Whole30 Book, It Starts With Food is a helpful and in-depth read. There are also Whole30 cookbooks (Slow Cooker, Fast and Easy recipes, Original, and Food Freedom) that are packed with recipes and success tips. I’m a big fan of the library so check your local branch first to see if they have copies on hand.

And finally, I have tons and tons of Whole30 recipes that are printable and packed full of flavor and all that compliant goodness.

Ready to get started? Let’s do this! There is a free printable shopping list available at the bottom of this post.

Some Highlights of Whole30 Trader Joe’s Staples

Note: these are just the tip of the Whole30 compliant iceberg that Trader Joe’s has to offer. Print the full shopping list for all the specifics.

Trader Joe’s Whole30 – Salsa

Instant flavor boosters for eggs, veggies, and meat, and there are soooooo many Whole30 compliant salsas at Trader Joe’s!

Trader Joe’s Whole30 – Quick Bites

Need something to keep in your purse or car for an emergency snack? Trader Joe’s has you covered.

Trader Joe’s also has a huge supply of compliant RX Bars and Lara Bars. Not all are compliant so review the shopping list for specifics. I never wanted to spend money on Lara Bars, so I learned to make my own! These Lemon Bliss Balls are compliant and sooooo good. Just remember, bars are considered an emergency food and are not to be used to satisfy sugar cravings.

Nuts and Fruits

Great for quick on-the-go emergency snacks or to add flavor to dishes, Trader Joe’s has an amazing and huge selection of compliant nuts and dried fruit.

Trader Joe’s Whole30 – Frozen Vegetables

Our Whole30 round changed our lives permanently. Not just because of eating but because it helped me discover the amazing life hack of roasting frozen vegetables. Use a bunch to make this Sheet Pan Sausage and Veggies dinner.

Affordable and simple to use, frozen veggies are such an easy way to rock your round. In fact, I love frozen veg so much, I wrote The Ultimate Guide to Roasting Frozen Vegetables.

Trader Joe’s Whole30 – Sauces & Condiments

Ramp up the flavor and make your meal prep a breeze with these prepared sauces and condiments. That pesto is amazing and the star of the sheet pan dinner Pesto Chicken and Cauliflower.

Well, friends, are you ready? Are you pumped? Maybe a little bit nervous?

You may find some challenges over the next 30 days, but you’re going to also learn some amazing things about yourself! You may discover a new dinner that you love like Instant Pot Orange Chicken or a life hack like baking bacon to cut back on meal prep.

Want more compliant recipes? Check out all my Whole30 recipes for ideas and inspiration! I also have a printable Costco Whole30 Shopping List, and a conventional Costco Shopping list when you aren’t on round.

  1. Thank You! I love the organization of this list! There is a new Trader Joe’s about to open in our town, so I am looking forward to putting this to good use!

    1. Any organization compliments from you is high praise Catherin!!

The first month after opening will be bonkers at the Trader Joe’s. But give it a little time and it should calm down.

  2. “Sex with your pants on” is one I haven’t heard before. That’s histerical. We have a term called dirty keto that means the same thing. Not worried about ingredients, just carb count.

    1. I have always heard the term dirty keto but never knew exactly what it meant. Thanks for clearing that one up!

  3. I applaud you! As someone embarking on a whole new restricted eating plan, this qualifies you as a saint!

Let me take this time to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy an otherwise wonderful 2019!

    1. I’m glad to help A! How is the low-sodium thing going?

Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and yours as well!

  4. This is amazing! We don’t have a trader Joe’s, but I plan to print this list and take it to our local fru-fru grocery store!
A few other good cookbooks are Nom Nom Paleo and Well Fed.

  5. This is awesome. I wish I had a Trader Joe’s closer – there’s one about 45 minutes away, but that always seems like SO MUCH EFFORT for this lazy girl. I think I’ll try and hit it this week though!

    1. Ugh, I hear you girl! It’s about 30-40 minutes from us too, but near Target and Costco so we combine trips.

      Happy shopping!
